Lecturer Faculty Biography
Dr. Woodard has served in various capacities as a faculty and staff members at San Francisco State University (SFSU). Dr. Woodard was first hired to serve as the project coordinator for San Francisco Promise at San Francisco State University. San Francisco Promise was a partnership between San Francisco State University, SFUSD, and the City and County of San Francisco. The mission of San Francisco Promise is to put higher education within reach of all public-school children in San Francisco, including those who would be the first in their family to earn a college degree. Dr. Woodard has since worked in Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at SFSU with high school and transfer students from all over California.
In 2016 Dr. Woodard completed his dissertation “Narrative Study of Vietnamese American Male Students: Equity, Access, and Retention on the Campus of San Francisco State University” at Drexel University. Dr. Woodard also has received undergraduate degree in Asian American Students (B.A.) and graduate degree in Educational Administration (M.A.) from San Francisco State University.
He has over 10 years of experience in program coordination in the non-profit sector, most recently working as a Program Manager for San Francisco Achievers, which support young African American Males in San Francisco Unified School District. He has also served as and continues to serve his community by Asian Pacific America in Higher Education (APAHE) Conference Co-Chair and Steering Committee member (2014-2018), Emerging Leaders Program, San Francisco State University (2015-2016), Student Affairs and Enrollment Management (SAEM), San Francisco State University Strategic Planning Committee Member (2014-2015), California Student Opportunity and Access Project (Cal-SOAP) Consortium member (2014-2015), Board President of The Friends of the Storybook School, San Francisco State University Staff/Faculty advisor for Sigma Omicron Pi, Beta Chapter (2010-Present). He has worked/volunteered with youth ranging from pre-school age to college students since 1998.
