Faculty Biography
Lorraine was born and raised in San Francisco Chinatown. After attending K-12 schools in Chinatown, she graduated from San Francisco State with both a B.A. (1969) and M.A. (1970) in the Department of Foreign Languages (Chinese). She returned as an Asian American Studies lecturer in 1987, received a tenure-track appointment in 1991, served as AAS Department Chair for 7.5 years, and is currently a FERP faculty. Through the years, Lorraine has been a strong believer of merging both academic and community service. She now serves in the community as President of the Square and Circle Club, the first and oldest Chinese/Asian American women service organization in America.
