Russell Jeung incoming chair of Asian American Studies effective Spring 2018


Grace Yoo will end her term as chair on January 17, 2018.  She has been appointed as the First Year Experience Faculty Director for the campus.

Russell Jeung is the  incoming chair of Asian American Studies effective Spring 2018.   He as been teaching at SF State's AAS department since 2002.  Dr. Jeung  is the author/co-author/editor of four books including Faithful generations: Race and new Asian American churches;  Sustaining faith traditions: Race, ethnicity, and religion among the Latino and Asian American second generation; At Home in Exile; and a forthcoming book, Family Sacrifices: The Worldviews and Ethics of Chinese Americans.  He also is a recipient of the Association of Asian American Studies "Community Engaged Scholar" award.  

Dr. Jeung  has served as the department's M.A. coordinator and as a major/minor advisor.  He also has served on university-wide committees, such as the Academic Program Review Committee, as well as several college and department ones, including chairing the RTP and Hiring committees of AAS.
