Professor Allyson Tintiangco-Cubales received an award for Excellence in Education from the Asian Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus at the California State Capitol this last Monday. Professor Tintiangco-Cubales has published books and articles that focus on the development of ethnic studies curriculum. In addition, Allyson is dedicated to the Filipina/o American community. She founded of Pin@y Educational Partnerships (PEP), an educational pipeline. Every year, PEP sends hundreds of students to college, graduate school, and credential programs. She also developed a curriculum with San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) focused on Filipino language in the elementary school. Since 2007, she has served as a consultant with the SFUSD on the development of an ethnic studies curriculum for high school students. Last year, she helped pass a resolution to have ethnic studies in all schools in San Francisco.
