Eric Ignacio was honored as the recipient of the 2016 Asian American Studies Alumni of the Year award at the Asian Student Union/Asian American Studies Graduation Banquet on Sunday May 29, 2016.
Eric Ignacio graduated with a B.A. in Asian American Studies in 2000. While an undergraduate, he worked with Professors Dan Begonia, Lorraine Dong and Dan Gonzales on video productions, the Liwanag team and the first Ating Tao drum circle. Eric went onto to receive a M.A. in Instructional Technologies and received the “Student Videographer of the Year” by the San Francisco Bay Area Photographers Association.
Currently, Eric is a video producer at VIZ Media, a Japanese American Manga and Anime entertainment company. He has worked at ABS-CBN International, TBWA/Chiat/Day, 72andSunny and various Asian American film productions such as Only the Brave, DJ QBert’s Turntable TV and the Emmy award winning documentary the Mighty Warriors of Comedy.
Eric’s passion is to support and contribute to Asian American art and pop culture. He’s grateful to Asian American studies at San Francisco State University in shaping him as a storyteller. Eric has also been a regular supporter of SFSU AAS through his visits to our classrooms and his attendance/support of various AAS alumni and student dinners.
