TACT (The Association of Chinese Teachers) held its annual TTT (Teachers Teaching Teachers) on January 30. Involved in the planning and presentations were AAS faculty Lorraine Dong and Jeannie Woo (who serve on TACT's Curriculum Committee), and MA Student Katie Quan. Seventy-plus K-12 teachers attended to review over 200 APIA books put together by the Curriculum Committee. Some AAS 512 students were also present and met former MA student Jordan Loey who is now teaching history at Lincoln High School.
AAS collaboration with TACT began over three years ago when Dong and Woo joined forces with TACT to make Asian American materials free and accessible to SFUSD teachers via student projects done in AAS CSL-designated classes. Results of this community collaboration are exhibited at an annual APIA Heritage Month event held in the San Francisco Public Main Library every year. Our next public event at the Library is for Women's History Month, "APIA Women Making History," on March 12.
